What’s your day job?

Assistant Head of Higher Education Motorsport at Myerscough College, Preston.

What motor club do you belong to?

Morecambe Car Club.

What role(s) do you volunteer in?

I’m Chairman of the ANECCC and am a life member of Morecambe Car Club. I am the Secretary of the Meeting for the Malcolm Wilson Rally, act as a Stage Commander on
various rallies and also volunteer for the M-Sport DMACK JWRC team. I take students from my college with me when I volunteer as a timekeeper on Isle of Man events.

How long have you been volunteering for?

Over 40 years.

What or who inspired you to get into motor sport?

I didn’t want to be a rally widow so discovered that I could do results, stay warm and dry and still know exactly where my husband was in the rallies!

Brief volunteering history to present.

I started marshalling on night events, then moved to results, before acting as entries and event secretaries. I became secretary of Morecambe Car Club then Chairman,
Treasurer, Secretary and I’m now Chairman of the ANECCC. I’ve pretty much done every job there is on stage rallies!

What’s the best thing about being a motor sport volunteer?

Meeting fantastic people from all over the world, I can’t go anywhere without seeing someone I know!

What piece of advice would you give to a new volunteer?

Just do it! Don’t be afraid of making mistakes - we all do!
