Thanks to Vodafone McLaren Mercedes and Arden International Motorsport the winners of the 2012 BSKC will visit the famous McLaren Technology Centre to see where the F1 cars raced by Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton are designed and manufactured and will also receive one‐to‐one tuition in Arden’s state‐of‐the‐art simulator.
“The Vodafone McLaren Mercedes team is delighted to support the 2012 British Schools Karting Championship,” said Martin Whitmarsh, Team Principal. “We wish all the competitors the best of luck and look forward to meeting the winners at the McLaren Technology Centre later in the year.”
The preliminary rounds of the 2012 BSKC are now complete. The record entry of 617 teams (1850 students) already have battled it out at 37 tracks around the country, from Aberdeen to Exeter, with the best performing 176 teams qualifying for nine Regional Finals scheduled which take place during March. The best of the best will then qualify for the season finale staged at Daytona Milton Keynes on Sunday 1 April where they will compete for the coveted overall title… plus, of course, these fantastic ‘money can’t buy’ prizes.
The ‘arrive & drive’ knockout, championship introduces students aged 13‐18 from schools and colleges to the thrills and spills excitement of competitive karting. The growth in the BSKC this year has come from a huge influx of new schools keen to explore karting as a school sport. If your school missed out this time around keep logging onto bskc.co.uk to find out how to enter next year’s championship.
Earlier this year the Vodafone McLaren Mercedes team kindly opened its doors to reward the efforts of 20 UK volunteer race marshals – these were selected via a special competition run on this website during National Motorsport Week.
