1300 people experience club motor sport at Speedmachine and MotoFest Coventry

Over 1300 people got their first taste of club motor sport as the MSA worked with local clubs to run AutoSOLO passenger rides at Speedmachine (26-27 May) and Autotest passenger rides at MotoFest Coventry (2-3 June).

Oxford Motor Club members and volunteers gave over 1500 passenger rides to 600 Speedmachine visitors over the two-day FIA World Rallycross Championship event. 48 volunteers drove, marshalled and assisted with signing on, with the furthest completing a 316 mile round trip to attend. The AutoSOLO took part on the famous Stowe Corner of the Grand Prix circuit.

Just a week later Loughborough Car Club members and volunteers offered passenger rides to individuals at MotoFest Coventry, utilising a city centre car park. 700 individuals signed on, with over 2000 rides taking place over the weekend. 22 people volunteered to assist on the Coventry event, six of whom volunteered for both days at Coventry as well as having volunteered for both days at Silverstone the previous weekend.

Clubs and events are already seeing the benefits of these events with one person joining Oxford Motor Club just hours after their passenger ride, and two more new members joining that week. Three people have also gone on to enter local AutoSOLO and Autotest events after enjoying their first experience of grassroots motor sport. Many others have made contact with Go Motorsport Regional Development Officers to find out more about getting involved.
